ACKNOWLEDGMENTS
Thank you to:
- FileMaker v18 for making possible the creation of NoteMaker and ScriptPlanner. FileMaker is
an amazing platform for creating powerful and aesthetically pleasing databases, database
systems and data-processing apps (so good is FileMaker that there hasn't been a need
to have a look-in to Microsoft's powerful Access more than a couple of
times). FileMaker is now in its 22nd iteration.
- Sunny Chu's YouTube channel, "FileMaker Beginner". Sunny is a fantastic teacher.
Sunny's channel is simply a must for those new to FileMaker.
- Microsoft Expression Web 4, with which this website was created and is being continously modified. And
it's free! (The copy used to build this website was downloaded by going straight
to the button labelled "Download 98.75 MB Free" and clicking it at
https://microsoft-expression-web.en.uptodown.com/windows/download).
- "Introduction to Expression Web 4 Tutorial", a methodical series of 20+ videos on YouTube. At the end of the series, you'll
learn a lot of html, css and a little bit of JavaScript (enough to do some fancy stuff).
The instructions are fantastic.
- Google Forms for providing the template for this website's Contact Form and (with the aid of
a short 5-minute YouTube video) making it easy to create a customisable form.
- HostPapa for hosting this website at a great low price with excellent, highly responsve customer service.
And also for making it easy to set up this website's email account,
support@notemakerdatabase.com, via
HostPapa's cPanel.
- Wix for hosting the sibling website for free with a provided contact form
and the tools for code-free easy-to-design professional-looking layout.
- Windows 10 and 11 operating systems, under which NoteMaker and ScriptPlanner
were and are being built. (A little improvement but much appreciated:
tooltips with Windows 11 show for as long as the object is being hovered — they do not time-out — thus tooltips in
NoteMaker and ScriptPlanner can be more instructional in nature when need to be).
- Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon gen 11 (now, correct as at December 2024, gen 13) laptops whose keyboards are arguably the
best in the world for eight-finger typing on a laptop. A little miracle is how the
legendary red nib in the middle of the keyboard never gets in
the way of typing. Wonderful too (and much needed) are the half-dozen ports:
2 x USB C (one of which may be used to connect a recharging cable), 2 x USB type A (which may be used, for example,
to connect to a wireless mouse and to a printer), HDMI and a 3.5 millimetre headphone jack.
- Users of NoteMaker and ScriptPlanner, especially those who have
provided us with invaluable feedback.
